SCHOOL BOARD MAKES NOTICE ON UPCOMING SOLAR POWER CONTRACT

The Morongo Unified School District will consider the awarding of a solar contract at its second meeting this month, on November 18th. Dan Stork explains why they’ve put out the word early…
When a school district decides to go solar, it doesn’t have to go through a competitive bid process. That’s according to California Government Code Section 4217. Section 4217 suggests guidelines for considering proposals, and does require a public agency to give at least a 2-week public notice of a regular public meeting at which it intends to consider awarding such a contract. So the MUSD Board of Education is announcing now that it will discuss entering a Power Purchase Agreement at its November 18 meeting. At its last meeting, the Board directed staff to enter contract negotiations with NextEra/RGS for implementation of solar energy generation at most of the District’s sites.
