The Morongo Unified School District held a public meeting last night, including a public hearing on proposed by-trustee area elections. Reporter Andrew Dieleman was there and has the details…
Members of the desert community were quick to weigh-in on the proposed by-trustee area elections plan at the MUSD public meeting last night. Community members were critical of the plan, questioning whether the new plan would actually create better district representation. Other members even proposed fighting the new plan in court. According to MUSD legal advisor David Soldani, every community that has fought the plan in court so far has failed, leaving some communities with millions of dollars in litigation expenses. Soldani advised area residents to view the proposed district maps for the plan as soon as they become available and stressed to the public to continue to make their voices heard on the matter. The MUSD board ended the discussion by emphasizing that they will always stand behind whatever is best for the community.
