At last night’s meeting, the MUSD Board of Trustees discussed Yucca Valley High School’s new track and field improvement project. Numerous concerns emerged during the deliberation among board members, project managers, and staff and faculty from Yucca Valley High School, including a very tight timeframe for grant funding for the new track, layout restrictions, and the current safety of the field’s bleachers. After lengthy deliberation, the board voted to authorize the construction of the new track, but voted to table discussions on the field project until more information was collected for review. The board also held two work study sessions, the first outlining the dissolving of the On-Campus Intervention (OCI) positions at Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms High Schools and the redistribution of funds to other positions at the schools. The second work study session focused on making the requirements for bereavement leave consistent among certificated, classified, and confidential employees throughout the district.
