The Morongo Unified School District dealt with a variety of matters at last night’s lengthy board meeting. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has the details…
At last night’s meeting, the MUSD Board of Trustees held a work-study session on the Local Control Accountability Pan, which proposes prioritizing district funding for highest-priority needs, including student safety and professional development. The board also held a second work-study session on the 2018-2019 district budget draft. It then adjourned to closed session to hold a conference with designated bargaining representatives. In open session, the board held a public hearing on the tentative agreements reached with the California School Employees Association. The board also issued a declaration of need for fully-qualified district educators, began the process of placing a new district bond on the November-election ballad, and approved the district’s free summer breakfast and lunch program.
In other business, the board officially approved the 1-year pilot program for the Community Eligibility Provision, which will provide free breakfast and lunch to all MUSD students, and updated eight district-wide education course outlines. The board also held public hearings on the Local Control Accountability plan, the 2018-2019 budget draft, the district special education program, and the tentative agreements reached with select district employees. There were no public comments on any hearing.
