With public comment closed, the MUSD Board of Education continued their regular session last night. As students returned to the classroom this week across the Morongo Basin, the board addressed some of the challenges facing students and staff. Assignment reporter Chris Fleischman explains…
The MUSD Board of Education met in regular session last night, the week that marked the full, district-wide return to in-person learning. Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services Amy Woods offered an overview of last year’s testing data for third through sixth grade students, highlighting specific sites in the Morongo Basin for growth in both Math and Reading. According to Woods, students will be re-tested during the first month of school to further assist in assessing student learning loss during the pandemic. Woods also shared a presentation chronicling a successful summer school program, which offered in-person education for 2200 students across the Morongo Basin.
The board then voted unanimously to approve a pay increase for Certificated Permit holders and Certificated Credentialed substitutes. They also unanimously approved the School Plans for Student Achievement for Condor and Friendly Hills Elementary Schools, La Contenta Middle School, and Twentynine Palms Junior High School, in addition to approving the Geology Course Outline for Grades 9-12.
