The Morongo Unified School District Board met in two open sessions yesterday. The first was a workshop on Individual Plans for Student Achievement for the Local Education Agency Program. Principals from Oasis and Condor Elementary Schools, Twentynine Palms High School, and the new Black Rock Continuation High School (a consolidation of Sky & Monument Highs) presented their plans for student achievement. Each school had an individual plan but all relied on the participation of parents, an attempt to meet the varied needs of every student on an individual basis, and measurable achievement goals. After breaking for a closed session the board reconvened and approved each school’s Single Plan for Student Achievement as well as the Local Education Agency’s three-year Corrective Action Plan. Among other actions last night, the board authorized temporary borrowing between district funds for the coming fiscal year. That action as a precaution to best manage cash flow should Prop 30 funds due to the district from the state be delayed in any way.
