At last night’s meeting, the MUSD Board of Trustees also reviewed student achievement plans for Black Rock High School, Twentynine Palms High School, Yucca Valley High School, and Yucca Valley Elementary School. Recurring needs brought up during the presentations included increasing student proficiency in English language arts and mathematics; minimizing student suspensions; and increasing student attendance rates, parental involvement, and student safety. The board also held a work-study session reviewing audits that compare the district’s annual budget to actual expenses. During director comments, the board heard a brief presentation on average class sizes in the district (21.42 students per teacher according to the report) and received a district enrollment update.
