SCHOOL BOARD ALSO CONSIDERS “AT LARGE” VS, DISTRICT ELECTIONS TONIGHT

Revised board policies, National Disabilities Awareness Month, and a change to district-based election voting are all on the agenda tonight for the Morongo Unified School District. Here’s reporter Eric Knabe with more…
The Morongo Unified School District board of directors will conduct a work-study session starting at 5 p.m. tonight, at which it will discuss revising board policies and bylaws. Following the work-study session is a closed session to discuss student expulsions and re-admissions, employee discipline, and conference with bargaining representatives. At 7 p.m., the board will recognize some disabled students for their accomplishments in honor of National Disabilities Awareness Month. Then, due to a threat of an expensive lawsuit, the board will consider approving a resolution to change the way board members are elected from “at large” voting to district-based voting. The meeting will be held at Twentynine Palms High School on Wildcat Way in Twentynine Palms.
