Mark your calendars: Joshua Tree Lighthouse Christian Center will give away back-to-school backpacks to children in grades kindergarten through sixth grade on Saturday, August 10. The backpacks will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 10 a.m. at the church, 5475 Sunburst St. in Joshua Tree. Drawings will be held to give away a brand new bicycle for a boy and a girl. There will also be a special kids’ movie and games. The fire department will have a fire truck on site. All children must be accompanied by a parent.
