Scammers have been targeting our military personnel scams. Managing editor Tami Roleff has more information…
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service has been receiving reports from sailors and Marines who have been scammed by con artists who are promising them money as a gesture of gratitude for their military service. The scammers tell the victim that they’d like to give them money, or a grant, for debt relief. The victims are then asked for their bank account information. The victims then discover that loans have been opened in their name at the bank, and they are responsible for the loans with no way to contact the scammers. Everyone is urged to be vigilant and double check everything. Reminder, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
