SB County Fire knock down vacant Joshua Tree housefire despite downed SCE line

A fallen electrical line complicated the extinguishing of a house fire in Joshua Tree, but no injuries were reported.

On Thursday (April 3) just before 9:30 p.m., crews with San Bernardino County Fire responded to a report of a structure fire near Sunburst Avenue and Highland Street in Joshua Tree. Crews say they arrived to find a single story single family dwelling that was well-involved with fire. Crews confirmed that there was no one inside of the home, and said that the wire connecting electric poles to the home known as the electrical drop line had fallen and was identified as a safety hazard for first responders.

Despite the downed line, three engines from County Fire with an additional engine from Cal Fire were able to knock the fire down within 30 minutes. Southern California Edison responded to resolve the downed line, and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that no one had been currently living in the home.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
