SB County Board of Supervisors approve $73 million to help address homelessness

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to leverage nearly $73 million dollars in resources to support programs that will counter the growing problem of homelessness through a variety programs.

The funding comes from federal, state, and county resources, and will be used in ways outlined by the County’s 2022 Homeless Strategic Action Plan, which was approved by the board in June.

Among some of the initiatives that will receive additional funding is the continuance at the county level of the state’s Project Roomkey program, which provides hotel rooms for unhoused people. Funding for the state program has expired, but with the funding, the program, which provides rooms and facilities for 80 to 90 people can continue on the county level.

The funding will also be used for outreach programs and housing solutions, including new group and individual facilities throughout the county and through partnerships with cities within the county.
