Even though summer is officially over and the “spooky season” is here, desert residents should still remember the importance of water conservation to avoid the shock of expensive water bills and possible water shortages. Assignment reporter Chris Fleischman offers these tricks to treat your tap…
It’s officially spooky season here in the Morongo Basin, and as we prepare for trick-or-treaters, it’s important to remember how to avoid one of the most unwelcome boogeymen – a massive water bill. Especially after such a brutal fire season in California, water shortage remains a very real, ongoing threat. To conserve water, remember to repair any leaky toilets or faucets, and try to run dishwashers and washing machines with full loads only. Consider installing aerators in your faucets to save even more water. If you are thinking of replacing your washing machine, you should consider energy and water efficient models to save money long-term. In the bathroom, remember to turn off the tap while brushing your teeth and shaving, and consider taking short showers instead of baths. When outdoors, you should water only when necessary, preferably early in the day when temperatures are cooler.
