SAVE THE DATE: SOUND-CHECK-EARTH APRIL 22-23

To honor Earth Day on April 22, mark the calendar for SoundCheckEarth, which will combine sounds of nature with musical instruments for an immersive acoustic concert within Joshua Tree National Park. Heather Clisby has the details …

A creative partnership between Harrison House and the Joshua Tree National Park resulted in a unique listening experience called SoundCheckEarth, fittingly scheduled for Earth Day Weekend, April 22nd and 23rd.

Described as an “immersive sonic experience,” SoundCheckEarth is the creation of Composer Kennedy Verrett who will utilize 17 acoustic instruments to ‘back up’ the natural sounds of the desert, such as weather and wildlife. Designed for a “strolling audience,” attendees may take in expressions of a bassoon, strings, woodwinds, brass, and various percussions. A film by Eva Soltes, the founder and director of Harrison House Music, Arts & Ecology, will follow the concert.

SoundCheckEarth will take place at Cap Rock in Joshua Tree National Park three times a day on Friday, April 22 (6:06 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m.) and Saturday, April 23 (2:30 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 6:06 p.m.) The event is free.
