Bring a sharp eye and your best aim out to the fifth annual air rifle shooting competition on Saturday, October 5, at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms.
The event is sponsored by the Morongo Basin Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans, MCAGCC Formal Marksmanship Training Center (FMTC) and Z107.7-FM. All veterans are welcome, and their families are encouraged to attend.
Sign-in begins at 7:30 a.m. and competition begins at 9 a.m. sharp. Prizes will be awarded in different categories. Competition equipment will be supplied by the National Rifle Association. Lunch is provided and donations are accepted.
There will be shaded bleachers but attendees are encouraged to bring camping chairs. This is a zero-alcohol event and no personal firearms are allowed on base.
Attendees must register by 4 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 by calling or texting Mike Smith at 760-217-4610.
Competitors do not need to be a member of the Disabled American Vets.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult or a veteran sponsor.
To gain access on base, two forms of photo identification are needed; preferably one should be a driver’s license or state ID card. Drivers will need the vehicle’s current registration and proof of insurance.
