Mark your calendars and save the date for the third annual Oktoberfest and fall festival in Yucca Valley. Set for Saturday, October 10, the festival will feature a the American Bavarian Brass Band out of Beaumont, who will play polkas, marches, waltzes, schottisches, and Rheinlanders. Master of ceremonies and bergermeister will be Tom Huls once again, who will lead the crowd in the Chicken dance, and the log-sawing, keg-tossing, and stein-holding contests. Kids are welcome at the Oktoberfest; there will be a special kids zone set up just for them. Discount packages will go on sale in mid-September at the Yucca Valley Chamber of Commerce, or tickets may be purchased at the gate for $7 for adults, $3 for children. Oktoberfest will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. at the Little League field between Grand and Palm Avenues, north of the highway. For more information, call 760-365-6323.
