April 30 is National Drug Take-Back Day, and two organizations are hosting events Saturday from 10 to 2 to accept unwanted or unneeded prescription drugs and needles. The Hi-Desert Family Health Clinic in Yucca Valley is holding a drug take-back day as part of its community resource fair. The resource fair is for the entire family, with health screenings, drawings, give-aways, kids’ activities, and a free lunch. Every year, thousands of pounds of prescription drugs end up in landfills, posing a danger to the environment. The Joshua Tree Sheriff’s Department in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration is hosting a Drop-Off Event for unwanted prescription drug pills. The event takes place on Saturday, April 30th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sheriff’s office in Joshua Tree. The FDA recommends using medicine take-back programs such as this as the best way to dispose of your unwanted medicines. The event is free, no sign up is required and all drop offs are anonymous, no questions asked.
