SAN BERNARDINO SHERIFF SHANNON DICUS DISCUSSES CONCEALED WEAPON PERMITS ON THE UP CLOSE SHOW

San Bernardino Sheriff Shannon Dicus was the guest on last week’s Up Close Show and had a conversation about concealed carry weapon permits. Reporter Jef Harmatz brings you a selection from the show.

During his interview, Sherriff Dicus expressed his support for the county’s concealed carry weapon program.

“We talked about the vastness of this county, I think it’s critical to public safety to have a robust concealed weapons program.” – Sheriff Dicus

Sheriff Dicus said that there were more than 11,000 concealed weapon permits and that each permit holder attends a one-day class administered by San Bernardino County Sheriffs.

“I know the quality of my deputies, and they will do everything they can to get to our citizens on their worst day, but the reality is that, with workloads, and the area they cover, I need to make sure that citizens are protected, and if they choose to go through our CCW program, then I certainly think it’s incumbent upon me that they have the tools they need to keep themselves safe. So if they do encounter their worst day, they are able to protect themselves.” – Sheriff Dicus

Sheriff Dicus said that applications for the county’s CCW program are available on the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s website, wp.sbcounty.gov/sheriff/
