SAN BERNARDINO MAN ARRESTED AFTER HOMEOWNER STEPS IN DURING ROBBERY

A San Bernardino man was arrested for burglary in Twentynine Palms Tuesday (March 15). According to a Sheriff’s Department press release, deputies assigned to the Morongo Basin Station were dispatched to a burglary in progress on the 6400 block of Lear Ave in Twentynine Palms just after 2 a.m. The suspect, identified as Dominic Cortez, 19, allegedly had entered the residence through an unlocked side door. As Cortez moved through the house and entered the bedroom, the occupants woke up. Cortez reportedly attempted to flee but the homeowner was able to get Cortez to lay on the ground until deputies could arrive and arrest Cortez. Dominic Cortez was arrested for investigation of burglary and booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $25,000.
