A San Bernardino Man was arrested in Yucca Valley Wednesday (September 1) accused of carjacking, kidnaping, and many other felony crimes. According to Sheriff’s reports, Deputies responded to a report of a carjacking near the 58000 block of Twentynine Palms Highway in Yucca Valley around noon. The victim, a tow truck driver, told Deputies that he was towing a vehicle from Redlands through Yucca Valley when he was held at gunpoint by the suspect, later identified as Christopher Curtis, who told him to drop the vehicle from the tow truck. Curtis fled the scene before Deputies arrived. The incident was reported to the county Specialized Enforcement Division and an investigation was opened.
On Thursday (September 2), around 6:40 p.m., agents served a search warrant for Curtis in the 7300 block of Barberry Avenue in Yucca Valley. Curtis was located inside and was taken into custody without incident. Curtis was arrested for investigation of carjacking, kidnaping, robbery, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, receiving stolen property, on a felony no-bail warrant for probation violation, and on a $25,000 misdemeanor warrant for brandishing a firearm. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his total bail set at $500,000.
