San Bernardino County is a week away from reopening more businesses indoors, state data released Tuesday, March 9, show. For the first time since September, shortly after the state implemented a color-coded tier system to track the risk of transmitting the coronavirus, the county’s 6.7 adjusted case rate, 3.2% positivity rate, and 4% health equity metric, or positivity rate in socioeconomically disadvantaged communities, for the week ending February 27 put it a week away from reopening more indoor businesses. For example, dance studios, gyms and fitness centers, movie theaters, museums and other businesses indoors could resume indoor operations with modifications. But, those three figures must hold or improve next week for the state to move San Bernardino County from the purple, or widespread risk, tier to the less-restrictive red, or substantial risk, tier effective Wednesday, March 17.
