A stink alert has been issued for the Salton Sea. The South Coast Air Quality Management District issued an odor advisory that extends through today. The smell of rotten eggs is expected to hit the Coachella Valley due to elevated levels of hydrogen sulfide, the gas associated with natural processes occurring in the Salton Sea. the advisory warns that southeasterly winds are expected to bring the smell to parts of the Morongo Basin.
