With the Sheriff’ and the community on the lookout for the man bothering girls and woman, they are offering some safety tips. Managing Editor Tami Roleff tells you what to do if approached…
In light of several girls and women being approached by a suspicious man who tries to persuade them to get into his vehicle, Sheriff’s Captain Rich Boswell offers the following safety precautions. Use the buddy system when walking or jogging, and do so in daylight hours and in populated areas. Carry your car keys in your hand as you to walk to your vehicle, as they can be used against an attacker. Pay attention to your surroundings; don’t be distracted by cell phones or music. Make sure children have an adult with them at all times. Don’t accept rides from strangers or be lured closer to unfamiliar vehicles. If you are grabbed or attacked, fight back, yell, and if possible, run to the nearest home or business. If you have recently been approached by a suspicious person, note as much details as possible about the suspect and the suspect’s car, and then report to the incident to the Sheriff’s department at 760-366-4175.
