This is a busy season at Joshua Tree National Park. Ranger Pam Tripp has some advice for enjoying the Park safely…
Joshua Tree National Park is full of wonderous beauty, fantastic hikes, and plenty of chances for the sound of quiet. There is nothing like a drive, a nice hike, or an opportunity for great photography to help relax us and forget about the outside world and its stressors.
To truly enjoy this beauty and solitude, however, keep your safety in mind. Weather, vegetation, rocks, and traffic all contribute to the chance of mishaps.
While driving, be aware of other vehicles. Avoid stopping on the road and park or pull off in designated areas. Whether it is hot or cold outside, have and drink plenty of water. Wear layers of clothing for the extremes in temperature, especially at this time of year, and proper shoes for any walk, short or long. Also, have your map available to ask for directions during your visit.
