Sacred Symbols Tatau owner Randi Wilson voted in as newest MVCSD Board Director

On Wednesday evening the Morongo Valley Community Services District Board of Directors held their regular meeting where they elected a new board member to fill the vacant seat left by Eva Rowles’ resignation last month.

As the Board reviewed the candidate’s resumes, only two out of the three applicants were present for the public interview. Marco Sintobin, a Morongo Valley resident newer to the area, expressed his wanting to “give back” to the community by running for the Board.

Randi Wilson, the owner of Sacred Symbols Tatau for over a decade, expressed interest in “thinking outside of the box” when asked about how she’d handle the CSD’s perpetual financial troubles.

Bolstered by her application that cited experience in management, budgeting, decision-making, and accountability, the Board voted Wilson as the new member of the MVCSD Board of Directors. Because General Manager Brittany Chavez was not able to be present, Wilson will be sworn in by Chavez in the CSD’s office at the soonest availability.

The Board’s review of the lengthy Special Districts Risk Management Report was tabled until the next meeting and further discussions on K&M Enterprises’ grant writing and fund development services was tabled until the budget was clearer.

The Board also approved a recent bid from White Brenner LLP (out of Sacramento) for a new general counsel.

During his agency report, Finance Director Johnny Tolbert reported a sum of $900 returned to Morongo Valley Cookie Company owner Christopher Cross, who recently demanded his full donation towards last Thanksgiving’s Operation Gobble Gobble community turkey giveaway be refunded back to him.
