The community room at the Little Church of the Desert in Twentynine Palms has a new cooling system, thanks to a generous donation by the Twentynine Palms Rotary Club. The church’s community room has been used as a meeting place by many local service clubs, special-interest groups, a preschool, and for church functions. Over the years, the evaporative coolers fell into disrepair until one was not even functional, making meetings in the church during the summer barely tolerable. The Rotary Club voted to make the replacement of the coolers one of its community service project. One unit was replaced and the other completely refurbished. The work was completed on August 13 and the rooms are now cool and comfortable year round.
