A man escaped serious injury when his car rolled over Friday afternoon on the Morongo Grade. The driver was traveling westbound down the grade about 3:20 p.m. when he lost control of his black Toyota sedan. The car hit the side of the hill, and rolled over about three times before landing on its roof near the center divide. Morongo Valley firefighters were at the scene of a low-hanging power line on Rose Eden Drive in Morongo Valley that could have been a risk to high-profile vehicles when they got the call for help. The driver and sole occupant of the Toyota was wearing a seatbelt and was able to get out of the car on his own. Paramedics checked out the man at the scene; he refused transport to the hospital. The westbound lanes of Highway 62 were closed for about an hour following the crash. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
