Robert Haydon named Z107.7 Online News Editor

The Z107.7 News Department is proud to announce that Robert Haydon is the new Online News Editor. This position was newly created specifically for Haydon, who was initially brought on as an Assignment Reporter but quickly demonstrated an incredible faculty for news gathering and tailoring Z107.7’s hyper-local material for a growing online audience. If you’ve noticed this radio station’s revamped website, the credit for the slick and innovative redesign is his fine work.

Robert went to the University of Oregon and holds a Bachelor of Science from the school of Journalism, where he studied documentary, editing and news gathering. He worked in advertising and marketing up and down the west coast – most recently in Portland, Oregon where he worked at advertising and marketing agencies on content production and social media strategy.

Seeking a slower pace and a warmer climate – Robert moved back to southern California in December of 2019. He returned to journalism when Z107.7 hired him as an assignment reporter – a job he applied for on a whim.

He lives in Joshua Tree, and when he isn’t working on the news he’s skateboarding, tinkering on old cars or motorcycles, or getting outside and exploring the high desert, which he describes as one of the most unique and beautiful places on earth.
