Roads remain closed with thunderstorms on horizon as cleanup continues in Twentynine Palms

With a 20% chance of thunderstorms predicted tonight (July 17) by the National Weather Service, the City of Twentynine Palms is still working to recover from this weekend’s sudden and damaging rain storm. Sudden and heavy rainfall on Sunday (July 14) left streets and some homes flooded.

As of last night (July 16), several roads in Twentynine Palms remain closed. This includes a section of Adobe Road between Raymond Drive and Amboy Road. Also closed is Joe Davis Road east of Utah Trail, along with Ocotillo Avenue between Southslope Drive and Sunnyvale Drive.

City officials announced that they are helping to relocate residents whose homes have suffered severe flood damage. City Staff have contacted several hotels within our community and requested discounted hotel rates for displaced residents.

This includes the Motel 6 and SureStay by Best Western in Twentynine Palms.

City staff is also working with Burrtec to determine how residents will be able to dispose of flood damaged materials. Stay tuned for more information.
