ROAD REPAIRS WILL AFFECT TRAVEL TO BIG BEAR STARTING NEXT WEEK

Morongo Basin residents who plan to travel to Big Bear in October should be aware that Caltrans will be performing road work on Highway 18 that will completely shut down the highway between Snow Valley Mountain Resort and the Big Bear Dam through October 26. The work will be split into daytime and nighttime work hours to alleviate some of the impacts of shutting down the highway. This section of Highway 18 will be completely closed 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday from October 1-11. From October 14 through October 26, nighttime road work from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Thursday will close the highway. Workers will be performing routine maintenance, replacing signs, repairing guardrails, and clearing drains in preparation for the winter months. Motorists are urged to use Highway 38 as an alternate route.

SR-18 will be completely closed between Snow Valley Mountain Resort and Big Bear Dam, Monday through Thursday from October 2 through October 26 during the hours listed.
