You may have recently seen reports that Ring services have been hacked, with strangers talking to residents through the surveillance cameras. Ring says that the hackers obtained some customers’ account information from an external service and because some people use the same passwords for multiple accounts and services, the hackers were able to hack into their customers’ Ring accounts. Many people reuse the same user name and password for multiple accounts and services. This makes it easy for hackers if they are able to steal your personal information. Ring encourages its customers to enable two-factor authentication in the Ring app to create an extra layer of security. Don’t provide your log-in information to others; if you want to share your Ring access with others, add them as a shared user. Use different passwords for each account you have. Create a strong password with letters, numbers, and symbols, and regularly change it.
