Off-road vehicles are not allowed on any county service area roads, and can only be ridden on private property with the written permission of the property owner. But there are areas nearby where you can legally ride your ORV. ROP broadcasting student Millea Wasson says the biggest area is near Yucca Valley…
Have you been looking for a fun place to camp or off road in the Morongo Basin? Well then Johnson Valley is the place for you. About 25 miles North of Yucca Valley lies this desert, Off Highway Vehicle or OHV area. Johnson Valley is a whopping 189,000 acres. This OHV area is the home of King of the Hammers which was started in 2007 with a only 13 teams and has now blown up to a globally known event. Johnson Valley offers Rock crawling, flat land riding and even some small, sand dunes. This area is free to ride and camp and is maintained by Bureau of Land Management. This area is open year round with no holiday dates and fun for the whole family. Reporting for Z107.7 news, I am ROP broadcasting student, Millea Wasson.
