RESISTING ARREST IN YUCCA VALLEY

An arrest for loitering turned into a more serious charge when the transient threatened the arresting officer. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy was called to Jacob’s Park in Yucca Valley about 10 a.m. Thursday morning when a transient, later identified as Roy Johnson, 34, had locked himself in the men’s restroom at the park and refused to come out when requested by a town employee. The deputy arrested Johnson on suspicion of loitering and for possessing a shopping cart; while en route to the Morongo Basin Jail, the deputy said Johnson repeatedly threatened to kill him and spit on him. Due to Johnson’s high level of agitation and aggression, he was taken to West Valley Detention Center where he was arrested for investigation of resisting arrest. His bail is set at $50,000.
