Yucca Valley’s new senior housing has been open for a few months now. Reporter Mike Lipsitz says units are still available…
When Yucca Valley’s new Dumosa Senior Village began accepting applications for the one-bedroom units, many were attracted by the income-based sliding scale rents, high security, and 55-plus age requirement. Word soon spread that the buildings were full, says Community Manager Nora Garcia-Brady. However, the truth is 18 units with rents from $567 to $630 remain available for qualified applicants, including those with Section 8 Vouchers. National CORE, which operates Dumosa Senior Village, has incentives for referrals including a $150 gift card and free tablet computer when a referral moves in before the end of April.
