Two men were arrested late Thursday night following a routine traffic stop in Yucca Valley. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy stopped a vehicle about 10:30 p.m. near Lisbon Drive and Palomar Avenue for failing to use a turn signal when making a turn. The driver, identified as Donald Roa, 23, was arrested for his two active misdemeanor warrants for DUI and driving with a suspended license, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $30,000. The passenger in the car, identified as Kevin Carpio, 26, initially gave the deputy a false name and date of birth, because, as he explained later, he was on probation from North Carolina. Carpio allegedly told the deputy he did not have permission from North Carolina to be in California. The deputy arrested Carpio for investigation of violating his probation, and for a warrant for giving a false name to a law enforcement officer, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, and is being held without bail.
