Remains found in Joshua Tree National Park confirmed to be Trammell Evans

Remains found in Joshua Tree National Park have been definitively confirmed as those of Trammell Evans, a 26 year-old hiker who was declared missing in May.

Yesterday (January 31), the Riverside County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the remains belonged to the 26 year-old hiker, who was originally from Florida. He was last seen travelling alone at Black Rock Campground on April 30, and was reported missing by his family on May 5.

The family of the hiker said that human remains were discovered off of a trail near Black Rock Campground on January 25. The remains were found near a backpack that belonged to Evans, and the family believed that the remains were also his.

The remains were discovered by National Park staff, and the investigation was conducted by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
