RELAY FOR LIFE

The American Cancer Society is inviting Cancer Patients and Survivors to participate in the Morongo Basin Relay for Life and support the fight, going on this weekend at Yucca Valley High School. The Relay is an overnight team event, from 9 a.m. today, to 9 a.m. tomorrow, and is for all ages. Because cancer never sleeps, activities will be going on during the entire 24 hours. The annual Relay for Life goes from 9 a.m. Saturday, April 13, and lasts until a 9 a.m. Sunday morning Closing Ceremony at the Yucca Valley High School Track. At that time participants will have been there for the cause for 24 hours. Various themed laps will add interest and comic relief during the long night. The relay starts off with the survivor and caregiver laps, then moves into fun laps. Team members should bring costumes and supplies from home for the themed laps, some of which are: cowboy/western; Hawaiian/beach wear; best use of duct tape; cartoon character; gymnastic ribbon; Backwards walk; Super Hero; Dance; Relay Queen (Okay men, bring your feminine side—gowns, heels pantyhose, and make-up); pajama; wig; 3-legged race; toga; sports team; bed head; crazy hat; chicken dance; holiday. The last themed lap of the relay will be the Fight Back lap.
