Registration opens today for Boys and Girls Club of the Hi-Desert’s Summer Program

Registration opens today for the Boys and Girls Club of the Hi-Desert’s summer program. The eight-week program begins on June 9, and has been a popular way for local kids to get together, learn, and have fun during the hot months while school is out of session.

Z107.7 spoke with Shannon Tygerson, the Executive Director of the Boys and Girls Club of the Hi-Desert, who explained the program.

Shannon: “Our board decided to extend it for eight weeks starting June 9th through August 6th. That way parents don’t have to look for other child care during the summer. Our summer program consists of theme weeks, so every week there’s a different kind of spirit week.

“They’ll have different activities based around those themes and every week includes a water day. We have STEM, arts and crafts, breakfast, lunch, snacks. We really want the kids to have a chance to sign up for what programs they want versus just being assigned to a program. Because during the school year they have to go with every single rotation. In the summer if they want to do a theater program, they can do a theater program.

“If they want to focus mainly on coding for gaming, they can do that. It’s giving them the opportunity to really choose.

Our website www.bgchd.org will have the full list of our summer program, and our staff is working overtime really trying to make it the best summer we possibly can have.”

Registration for the summer program opens today.

The dates for the summer program are June 9 through August 6. All eight weeks cost $200 per child with discounts offered for multi-child families.
