You may have seen nurses on a picket line along the highway this morning. Reporter Eric Knabe has more to this story…
Registered nurses at Hi-Desert Medical Center in Joshua Tree picketed this morning, from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to urge management to invest in their nursing staff. They say this will improve the recruitment and retention of experienced RNs, and ensure optimal patient care. As of November, the nurses at this hospital have become members of California Nurses Association (CNA), and are in ongoing contract negotiations. CNA is affiliated with National Nurses United. Other nurses with CNA have intended to hold pickets at seven other Tenet-affiliated facilities in California and in Tenet hospitals in Arizona, Florida and Texas.
