The Twentynine Palms Historical Society is having a fundraising auction this weekend. Among the dozens of items up for bid include Bev Doolittle prints, Simi Dabah sculptures, Twentynine Palms murals prints, Prudie Underhill’s typewriter, an assortment of power tools, and much more. The Red Hot Auction takes place on Saturday, August 23, at the Old Schoolhouse Museum, 6760 National Park Drive, in Twentynine Palms. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. with refreshments and a silent auction, followed by a live auction beginning at about 7:15 p.m. The purpose of the fundraiser is to help pay for the remaining costs of the Hastie Bus renovation project, which has restored “Old Betsy,” Johnnie Hastie’s 1928 12-passenger bus that became the Twentynine Palms Stage, the area’s first public transportation service.
