“Go Red for Women” was established to bring awareness to women that heart disease and stroke is the number one killer of women in America today. The problem with heart disease is so often it goes untreated because it affects women differently than men.”
February is American Heart Month, and Hearts of Yucca Valley, an organization that’s been raising awareness and money for heart disease since 1966, is trying to get the word out that women need to learn about the risks of heart disease. Hearts of Yucca Valley Vice President Donna Munoz said the organization is partnering with many businesses and organizations to spread the word and selling red dress pins for $3.
“These red dress pins symbolize the heart health movement. We’re partnering with so many different agencies, the hospital, [the Center for] Healthy Generations, every single fire department and Morongo Basin Ambulance.”
Information about purchasing the red dress pins heart health events can be found below. All funds raised stay in the Morongo Basin and go to first responders and agencies dealing with heart health.
