RED CROSS UNVEILS NEW APP TO HELP MILITARY FAMILIES

Say you’re experiencing a family emergency. Your loved one is in the military stationed far away with no easy way to make contact. What do you do?
The American Red Cross says you should begin by downloading its new phone app. Dubbed the Hero Care App, a spokesman says, it will help you request emergency services and immediately access updated information regarding your loved one’s whereabouts.
It will also put you in touch with such non-emergency services as Red Cross behavioral health assistance, financial aid and free local workshops for military kids and spouses.
The new app, unveiled yesterday, is designed to “help vets and their families through a rough patch,” the Red Cross says. It can be downloaded for free from app stores, by texting GETHEROCARE to 90999 or clicking this link:
