REACH-OUT TO BENEFIT FROM FRIDAY OPENING NIGHT AT THEATRE 29

The opening night gala for “Urinetown the Musical” will benefit Reach Out Morongo Basin, the neighbors-helping-neighbors organization. Here’s reporter Rebecca Havely with all the information…
The opening night gala of “Urinetown the Musical” is set for Friday, February 27. Arrive at 6 p.m. for hors d’oeuvres and to bid on silent auction items. The curtain will rise at 7 p.m. with desserts served at intermission. This edgy new musical farce is set in a Gotham-like, futuristic city where a 20-year drought has caused a ban on private bathrooms. The “Urine Good Company” profits by charging admission to public amenities; forcing them to believe “it’s a privilege to pee.” A hero decides he’s had enough and leads the people to freedom. Tickets for opening night only are $20 and include hors d’oeuvres, dessert, the show and free access to the theater’s restrooms. Get your tickets now in Twentynine Palms at the Senior Center or the Reach Out offices; in Yucca Valley at the Senior Center, ArtFX Art and Furnishings; or in Joshua Tree at Z1077 studios.
“Urintown the Musical” will run five consecutive weekends through March 28 on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. with 2:30 p.m. matinees on March 8 and 22. Tickets for dates other than the opening night are $12 for regular admission, $10 for seniors and military, and $8 for children under 12 and students with ID. Other than a little “potty humor” this production is suitable for all ages. Call 760-361-4151 for tickets or visit theatre29.org
