One of the many services offered by Reach Out Morongo Basin’s “neighbors helping neighbors” program is free transportation to medical appointments. With more on the program and its services, here’s managing editor Tami Roleff…
Reach Out Morongo Basin provides transportation for local residents to medical, dental, hospital, and therapy appointments. Rides locally in the Morongo Basin must be scheduled one week in advance, and rides “down the hill” must be scheduled two weeks in advance. First-time riders should allow enough time for an assessment to be done prior to transportation. While there is no charge for the rides, donations are accepted.
These rides are not meant to be emergency transportation nor the primary means of transportation. They are to supplement neighbor’s normal means of transportation. There are no fees associated with the rides; however, donations are gratefully accepted and offset costs of gasoline, insurance, maintenance, and driver expenses.
