The opening night gala on Friday, May 3, for Theatre 29’s third production of the 2013 season, “Ragtime,” is sponsored by the Twentynine Palms Kiwanis club. Not only will the evening feature the musical epic that tells the stories of three families whose lives intersect in New York in the early 20th century, but it will also include a silent auction, refreshments, and desserts. “Ragtime” is directed by Theatre 29 veteran Charles Harvey. The doors open at 6, and the curtain rises at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and are available at the Desert Trail office in Twentynine Palms, or from members of the Twentynine Palms Kiwanis Club. For more information or to donate an item for the silent auction, call Herman Platzke at 760-972-7205. “Ragtime” will run Friday and Saturday nights from May 3 to June 1 with two Sunday Matinees May 12 and May 26. Other than opening night, tickets are $8 to $12, and are available at the box office, 760-361-4151 or online at theater29.org.
