Director Charles Harvey has finalized his big cast for the next show of the season at Theatre 29, the epic musical “Ragtime.” Les Taylor lists the leads…
Opening May 3rd the Tony Award winning show, based on the novel by E. L. Doctorow, revolves around the intertwining lives of three central characters. Set in circa 1906 “Ragtime” looks at all the glories and contradictions that created what became known as the American century. Returning to the Theatre 29 stage in the role of Mother, the focal center point of the story, is Jennifer Paulk. Ragtime pianist Coalhouse Walker Jr. is played by Horace Miller while the Jewish immigrant Tateh will be portrayed by Leonard Weber. Supporting these principal characters are Benjamin Bees, Gloria Garner, Herman Platzke, Sadie Johannson and Aaron Fagan. Also appearing in featured roles are Graham Cooley, Kurt Schauppner, Erin Keeran, Alex Gomez and young Natalie Coughlin in her first major role.
Making their stage debuts in “Ragtime” are Amanda Mohn as the Little Boy and in a special cameo as Coalhouse Walker III is Adrian Crowell. Fleshing out the rest of the humanity of “Ragtime” in the pivotal ensemble who take on multiple roles are Chanel Rodgers, Cyrus Short, Chalize Kuntz, Brynn McDonald, Katie VanSummeren, Julie Taylor, Gwyneth Arnold-Starr, Michael Wanless, Cathy “Dude” Inscore, Amanda Winters, Jasmine Shaffer, Jessica Lomeli, Tara Henkel, Nena Jimenez, Patrick Trizila, Cleve Spaight, Lovelle Montgomery, Mark Jefferson, Alex Alexander, Kendra Cruz and Ayodele Coker.
