The Race of the Century—a cross-country motorcycle race featuring motorcycles that are at least 100 years old—will be making a stop in Twentynine Palms Saturday. Managing editor Tami Roleff says, “kick stands up”…
Only 100 riders, whose motorcycles were manufactured in 1916 or earlier, will be riding 3,400 miles across country in the Race of the Century, also known as the 2016 Cannonball. The race started September 10 in Atlantic City and will end September 24 in San Diego. The riders are scheduled to arrive in Twentynine Palms on the final day of the race, September 24, before they head to San Diego, about 200 miles away. Residents are invited to head to Luckie Park in Twentynine Palms from 10 to 4 to meet the riders and admire their vintage motorcycles as they stop for lunch.
