Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in locating a couple suspected of involvement in an attempted murder Sunday in Twentynine Palms. Deputies say that about noon Sunday, Cody Pangle, 25, of Joshua Tree, went to a home in the 5400 block of Daisy Avenue where Kameren Johnson, 18, was visiting friends. Deputies say Pangle stabbed Johnson with a knife in the left side of his chest, seriously wounding Johnson.
Pangle then fled the scene in a tan 1997 Toyota Corolla with his girlfriend, Christa Thomas, 22, of Twentynine Palms. The car has a Montana license plate, number 399761B. Morongo Basin Ambulance took Johnson to the Yucca Valley Airport where he was then flown by Mercy Air to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. Deputies performed an extensive area check for Cody Pangle and Christa Thomas, but were unable to locate them. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
