One person was arrested, and Sheriff’s deputies are searching for another, for a burglary in Yucca Valley last week. On Thursday, August 15, deputies were called to the 8700 block of Sage Avenue for a burglary. The owner had been out of town for the month of July and a friend was taking care of the home in her absence. Her friend had a woman, identified as Leah Aeschliman, 44, clean the house during that time. When the homeowner returned, she realized several items, including jewelry, had been stolen from her home. Deputies found some of the jewelry had been pawned by Aeschliman at a local pawn shop. Detectives went to the Aeschliman’s last known address in the 5500 block of Navajo Trail with a search warrant and discovered additional stolen property in the home. They also contacted Michael McElroy, 35, who had in his possession more than 100 pieces of mail and other identifying information that did not belong to him. Michael McElroy was arrested for investigation of possession of personal identifying information, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000. Detectives were unable to locate Aeschliman but they believe she is staying in the area. Anyone with information on Leah Aeschliman’s whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 760-366-4175.
