PUBLIC’S HELP NEEDED IN CASE OF DOG KILLED IN ITS OWN YARD

Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in a case of a dog that was shot in its own yard in Yucca Valley. According to the owners, Michael and Deana Cowdry, of the 7500 block of Cibola Trail, one of their dogs, Lola, an 8-year-old Chihuahua-terrier mix, went missing from their yard Wednesday and they fear she is dead. On Friday, Michael Cowdry says his 7-year-old chihuahua Honda was in their back yard about 10 p.m. He was on his way outside with a flashlight when he heard a shot and saw his dog fall to the ground and die. Deputies determined that the dog died from a single shot from a pellet gun. If anyone has any information about this case, or any other missing or killed animals, call Deputy Ryan Nerenberg at the Sheriff’s department at 760-366-4175.
